Recreating grounds worthy of a mansion
Owners of a classic mansion nestled among the forests north of Boston, these discerning clients needed a luxurious outdoor space that complemented their extensive home without overtaking it.
ND Landscape Service’s residential design and construction teams were commissioned to enhance the existing grounds, returning them to a higher level of sophistication.
Bridging the gap between city and nature
Before any design work could begin, a detailed assessment of the grounds was required. The local ordinances were contacted as we worked alongside them to ensure the entire project was fully permitted. All environmental concerns were addressed with the town as well.
The next challenge was creating a design that would suit the home rather than compete with it.
Making an asymmetrical design look symmetrical
At a glance, the design is simple, yet elegant — and it looks symmetrical in many ways. But upon closer inspection, the illusion of symmetry manifests through the weighting of certain design elements.
An expansive pool anchors the backyard, eventually leading to a custom cobblestone water feature, a large pergola with seating area and hot tub that’s steps away from an impeccable tennis court.
Clean and stately lines for unparalleled consistency
Throughout the landscape, lines are used to complement the mansion they surround. The backyard is tiered in spots.
Natural cobblestone walls are everywhere, lining the entranceway as well as other corners, such as the courtside and poolside patios.

Today, this gorgeous home is cared for in every season by ND Landscape Services, keeping it flawlessly manicured for the homeowners.
